Product designer, New York
I design the words an AI says to a person, and the evaluation that decides whether it should.
I'm a designer and illustrator. I like making machines sound a little more human, and making sure they've earned the right to speak.

Netflix · 2021 to 2026
Personalizing Netflix’s
Recommendations
I led the design of the first AI-written words Netflix put in front of members, the reasons a title is for you. And the grading system that made them safe to ship at catalog scale: a second AI that checks the first.

Netflix Evidence Framework · 2021 to 2026
How a title earns
your trust
Four legacy evidence systems, ten years of badges and text bolted onto titles, consolidated into one governed, code-enforced framework, and carried onto the new video-forward TV Home.

Woobo, teaching
a robot to talk to kids
I wrote the rules for how a machine speaks to a child, its voice, its personality, and what it could not say, years before ChatGPT. When in doubt, stay warm, and steer gently back to something safe, instead of guessing.

bre.ai,
a personal AI
A personal AI I designed and built end to end. It tracks my tasks, habits, moods, and relationships, and it is how I keep my hands in the model.

Uber · Aug 2019 to Aug 2021
Leading Uber Pro,
a retrospective
Uber Pro is the driver rewards program. I led its UX across Rewards, Onboarding, and Growth. I designed the badges and tiers that decide what a driver sees to earn one more trip, honestly, without wearing them out.

Uber New Mobilities,
Scooters 1.0
My first product design role was on the Uber New Mobilities team, designing the rider experience for the JUMP scooters and bikes launch. I helped bring it live across a pilot of 21 US cities.

About
I'm Bre, a product designer and illustrator based in New York. At Netflix I led design on the evidence system, the text and badging that helps a member decide what to watch, across TV, mobile, web, games, podcasts, and live events. I pushed personalization and generative AI into that work, including the AI-written explanations vision I drove to leadership. The evaluation pipeline behind it took us from a few thousand hand-checked strings to about 157,000 explanations a day. Before Netflix I designed driver rewards and the scooter launch at Uber, and before that I was the founding designer on a talking AI companion for kids. These days I build my own AI products end to end, because I want to work where the assistant is the product.

I didn't come to product from engineering or research. I came from drawing and writing, and that is still the center of how I work. The world would be boring as walls of text, so my job is the personal touch at scale. I think in specific, not general. Restraint is the skill I'm proudest of. Everyone wants to add more and be the loudest thing on the page. I keep the system principled so a person's attention lands where it matters.
